Government acquisition of Information Technology today is often recognized as being too slow for the pace of innovation. Government oversight necessitates transparency, and often to a degree beyond the needs of commercial markets. Can equilibrium be reached to build on the 15-year-old reforms that created preferences for commercial products and assured taxpayers that their money was being invested wisely? Can this be done while delivering the latest technology to warfighter? Tim Harp, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for C3ISR and IT Acquisition, will report on the status and direction of the DoD�s response to Congressional calls for reform. He will be joined by a panel of government and industry experts to discuss the factors that inhibit success.
