Competitiveness
The time has come to build the kind of comprehensive public policy in high technology that both sharpens America's competitive edge in world markets and bolsters those markets to the potential advantage of all market participants. Unfortunately, numerous policies in place today either dull this nation's high tech edge or shrink markets and market opportunities. Future leadership can only be preserved by enlightened policies that assure the competitiveness of U.S. workers vis-à-vis international counterparts; that expand educational opportunities in science, technology, math and engineering and reach out to under represented groups; that advance the innovation, productivity and ultimate value of U.S. products and services; and that support expansion of global markets-while assuring access of U.S. companies to those markets.
