Letter From the CEO
Dear Visitor
From sophisticated electronics that equip the US armed forces to powerful networks that shuttle the world's information and wealth around the globe - if it matters, technology makes it possible.
As critical as these examples are, they represent well-known applications. So, let's put security and commerce aside: Our government and politics, our arts and entertainment - even our families and friendships - would be unrecognizable without today's stunningly complex combinations of hardware, software and technical know-how.
Too often the people behind those solutions are disconnected. Colleagues are focused on different markets, potential business partners sometimes can't find each other from across the street, let alone around the globe. Business communities in places like Silicon Valley and policy makers in Washington often profoundly misunderstand each other. The future of government IT spending can be difficult to predict without a coordinated forecasting effort and the technical standards our solutions depend upon can't exist without intra-industry cooperation.
That's where ITAA steps in. ITAA is the premier technology industry association working to protect America's role as the innovation headquarters of the world. We do that by working to educate decision-makers in Washington, D.C. and in state capitals about the many ways public policy affects innovation and our nation's ability to compete. ITAA also serves as a nexus for the industry's only grass roots to global network of industry executives. We combine our state and national programs with access to the largest and strongest network of regional tech associations and the only global collection of national technology trade groups.
This year, ITAA broke new ground in the technology industry association space by merging with the Government Electronics and Information Technology Association (GEIA). It was the first step in the long-expected consolidation of a crowded field of technology trade groups. With so many voices claiming to represent the industry, it can be difficult for buyers, markets and policy makers to "get tech." The new, more robust ITAA offers the loudest and strongest voice in Washington, D.C., Wall Street and the major markets for electronics and IT.
So whether you are a technology innovator or entrepreneur, buyer or seller, policy maker or educator, member of the media or member of the general public, this website should offer you the information you need to understand trends in the industry and the issues that affect our industry's ability to grow and compete on the global stage. Welcome to ITAA.org.
Phil Bond
CEO, ITAA
